The Adventure Park @Sandy Spring Friends School Campout: Sept 30 - Oct 1, 2023
Troop 149 invites you to throw axes, camp out, and climb the ropes course at The Adventure Park @Sandy Spring Friends School on Saturday, September 30 through Sunday, October 1, 2023.No grub master, no problem! Pepperoni & cheese pizza, s'mores and continental breakfast awaits you at your first campout.
We will meet at Cherrydale Methodist Church in Class A uniform on Saturday, September 30th at 2 pm and drive to the Adventure Park (16701 Norwood Rd, Sandy Spring, MD 20860). It's about an hour away, so parent drivers are welcome to camp or just drop off/pickup.
When we arrive, we will set up our tents, fill the water jugs, and prepare the fire at Bandit's Hide-A-Way campsite, hidden in the back (jugs and wood provided by Sandy Spring). Dinner will meet you at the campsite at 6 pm and s'mores will be cooked over the fire.
At 8 pm, we have all four lanes at the premier outdoor Axe Throwing venue. The projected targets come alive at night - our lanes are lit up for the ultimate after-dark axe throwing experience! Projected targets have several different games to choose, traditional bullseye, tic-tac-toe, or connect four. All skill levels can enjoy!
"Lights Out" by 10 pm, so we are ready for the next day's ropes course.
Rise and shine before 7 am to pack up our gear, clean out camp site, and eat breakfast in time to start our Ropes Course at 9 am. The aerial forest adventure is exciting and secure for all participants, with provided harness/equipment and safety briefing that demonstrates how to climb and zip line in the park. There are 15 separate trails of varying levels of difficulty. Each trail has zip lines but primarily consist of “bridges” between tree platforms made of rope, cable and wood configurations. Climb with a buddy and have even more fun!
If your Scout chooses to grab an early lunch or a snack, there is a food truck and camp store; this is on their own dime, and it's cashless.
Sunday, October 1, at 11 am, parent drivers meet at the Adventure Park parking lot (close to the porta-potties, so we can load the gear). We anticipate leaving together around 11: 30/45 am, and will arrive back at Lorcom Lane outside of Cherrydale Methodist Church around 12:30 pm (Remind App notification will occur with updated arrival time when we depart the park).
Please be aware that all participants are required to have a completed Waiver. The middle, orange button on the link must be completed by a parent/guardian prior to the reservation start time.
