The groundhog predicted 6 more weeks of winter last week--this may or may not be true. Unlike the weather, Alonzo Stagg Hike is always predictable: the third Saturday of March. This year that will be March 18th.

As usual Scouts will have the opportunity to prove themselves by hiking 10, 20, 25, or 50 miles. We need to get a sense of the scouts, adults, and parents who are interested in any of the distances.

Last year 149 had a record number of 50 miler finishers. If you are interested in trying the 50 mile hike there will be 2 mandatory training hikes you will have to complete. The first one will be a 10 mile hike of the Bluemont Loops and the second will be a 25 mile hike. These are planned for the weekend of February 25 and March 4. You will be asked when signing upIf you are serious about completing the 50 miler and earning a Shamrock Shake you should start training now.

Parents: Troop 149 needs help supporting the Alonzo Stagg Hike on March 18th and helping with the training hikes for the 50 milers.

If you would like to hike or if you can help support the ASH, please sign up using the link below by Friday, March 10. This link is for 149's info on who is taking part. Actual registration and payment will be on Troop 111's CheddarUp site: link will be added here when available. Fees will be $10 for the 10 miler, $20 for the 20 miler, $25 for the 25 miler, and $35 for the 50 miler. Deadline for 111 registration and payment will be Saturday, March 11.

Anyone interested in the 50 miler, please plan to come early to the Troop Meeting on February 13th.
